Pistol Mounted Optics
Description
This 12 hour course is designed for experienced shooters seeking to enhance their skills with optics on pistols. The course offers hands-on experience, emphasizing the advantages, disadvantages, and troubleshooting of PMOs. Through objective-based training techniques, participants will develop confidence and competence in utilizing PMOs effectively.
Objectives
Proper presentation of the pistol (draw stroke refinement)
Target focus concept
Use of optic or suppressor height sights
Advantages and limitations of a optic mounted pistol
Zeroing procedures
Overcoming PMO malfunctions and occlusions
Acceptable sight picture
Holdover/offset
Trigger management (prep and reset under recoil)
Single handed operations
Shooting on the move
Low and no light with a red dot
Use of cover
Multiple target engagement techniques
Requirements
800 rounds of pistol ammunition
Pistol with red dot mounted (does not need to be zeroed)
Handheld or weapon-mounted flashlight
Holster and magazine pouch
Minimum of three magazines
Pen and notepad
Lunch, snacks, and water
Sunscreen, hat, and weather-appropriate gear
