LEO Applied Fundamentals

Description

The Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Applied Fundamentals course is designed specifically for active sworn officers who want to improve their handgun skills. this course takes you from a novice to intermediate shooter with a focus on precision, control, and confidence. Using a building-block approach, it addresses the real-world challenges faced by law enforcement officers on patrol, in schools, and the special team’s environment, pushing you to master the fundamentals and operate under pressure. Through a mix of dry fire and live fire drills, you'll develop accelerated accuracy with a focus on trigger control, grip, and sight alignment—giving you the tools to make critical shots on demand.

Objectives

  • Improve shooter proficiency and effectiveness.

  • Strengthen one-handed shooting for high-speed accuracy.

Requirements

  • Pistol in one of the following calibers: 9MM, .40cal, .357 SIG, or .45 ACP

  • 600-800 rounds in your weapon caliber

  • Kydex belt or paddle holster (NO Blackhawk Serpa holsters)

  • A minimum of 3 magazines (preferably 5-6)

  • Some safe means to carry magazines, on your person, to recharge your firearm four times (e.g. 4 magazine carriers/pouches)

  • Wraparound eye protection – potential for shooting steel, you will need high-quality, mission specific eye protection

  • Hearing protection (electronic hearing protection is recommended, but not required)

  • Cleaning and maintenance supplies for daily pistol maintenance

  • Personal small first aid kit

Notes

Ensure you wear and bring clothing appropriate for the weather. BDUs, or canvas type pants are recommended. Prepare for warm sunny conditions and overcast cool conditions. Bring sunscreen, lip balm and insect repellent. Bring a baseball cap, wide-brimmed hat, or stocking cap as appropriate. No open-toed shoes, tank tops, or other sleeveless shirts permitted. We recommend packing a few protein snacks and bringing your own lunch. We will be working through, but you will have time between sets to grab a bite. Class begins at 9AM and will be completed by 5PM.
