Applied Fundamentals
Description
The Applied Fundamentals course is designed for police and armed civilians who want to improve their handgun skills. It helps beginners become more advanced by focusing on gun use and basic skills. Students practice dry fire and live fire exercises to learn marksmanship essentials such as trigger control, grip, and aiming. This prepares them to hit small targets quickly and accurately.

Objectives
Controlling the trigger, with all platforms and trigger types, to achieve an accurate shot
Acquiring proper sight alignment, on a target, and allowing the shot to happen
Recoil management and making accurate follow up shots
Efficient grip, presentation of the gun, and shooting stance
Reloading your platform efficiently and reliably
Transitioning between targets without wasted movement and placing accurate shots
Make a shot that will stun you with the ability you have acquired
Requirements
Pistol in one of the following calibers: 9MM, .40S&W, .357 SIG, or .45 ACP
600-800 rounds in your weapon caliber
Kydex belt or paddle holster (NO Blackhawk Serpa holsters)
A minimum of 3 magazines (preferably 5-6)
Some safe means to carry magazines, on your person, to recharge your firearm four times (e.g. 2-3 magazine carriers/pouches)
Wraparound eye protection – as we are shooting steel, you will need high-quality, mission specific eye protection
Hearing protection (electronic hearing protection is recommended, but not required)
Cleaning and maintenance supplies for daily pistol maintenance
Personal small first aid kit (You will be reloading and shooting all day and your fingers will need care)
